Calligraphy Hall Table with Mirror

 

This was made as a speculative piece from one of three ideas submitted to a client. The challenge of stability in this narrow depth was dealt with in different ways in the three ideas. ( also see Linen... and Wind-Blown...)

Characters in calligraphy are often very sculptural; enlarged or rearranged in a kinetic way opens a host of design possibilities. Here, the influences are largely from the Devanagari/Sanskrit script.
