“I’m There…You’re Here” – Bench

“I’m There…You’re Here” - Bench

The space or gap in the middle has two  intended/unintended possibilities.

An idea that when the two people  conversing here are making an effort to communicate across differences they are trying to be where the other is. Hence I am there and you are here …… yes …stretching it a bit!

The other was that when I presented this among the  three designs to my client, he chose this because he had a moon shaped cushion that fitted perfectly in that gap against the wall!

Hall Chair with Paisley

Bench with Sindhi Shawl

Bench with Sindhi Shawl

We love to use drapes to cover and soften the look of a furniture piece in our homes. Here’s a bench that simulates that feeling….in wood and tiny mirrors. The hand painted stain design has the paisley pattern used extensively in the Indian Sub-continent area; specifically in the Sindh region.
Many cultures use mirrors on their garments and head wear to reflect-off or ward-off the evil eye
The paisley was also successfully appropriated by the English designer William Morris during the Pre-Raphaelite and early Arts and Crafts movement in England
